Paper Collage
My paper collages emerge from a monochrome world where nature and abstraction meet in layered quietness. Silhouetted trees—standing alone or gathered in faint rows—anchor each composition, their forms rising from textured landscapes built through photographic fragments, scraped surfaces, and shifting tones of grey. These scenes unfold like memories: partially revealed, partially obscured, shaped as much by what is removed as by what remains.
Working in grayscale allows the subtleties to speak. The greys carry their own truths, holding the tension between presence and absence, clarity and blur. Each surface roughens, softens, or shines depending on how the light finds it, creating depth that feels both tactile and emotional. In these layers, I echo the process of renewal: what is covered can be uncovered; what is lost can be remade.
Across titles such as Manifest, Destiny, Way Forward, Daydream, and Sentiment, the collages trace the inner terrain of healing. Barren trees become quiet witnesses to change; pathways and horizons hint at movement toward something new. The compositions explore the gentle courage required to begin again, embracing imperfection as a place of growth rather than loss.
These works sit in the space between darkness and the slow brightening after it. They are meditations on resilience, hope, and the steady work of reassembling oneself—layer by layer—into a new beginning.
