About Artist Roseanne Jones

Hi and welcome to my website! This site promotes a selection of my Print on Demand Products. The products feature graphics that I have created. The products are manufactured through one of four Print on Demand companies; CafePress, Zazzle, Artamatik & DeckPeck. I just do the graphic art, I do not manufacture the products. All pictures on this site are linked to the product at the online store where it can be purchased.  Each different company has different manufacturing and shipping times plus different payment options.

If you are interested in a custom designed product, feel free to get in contact and I will let you know if I can help you out.

A bit about me;

I was born in Christchurch, South Island, New Zealand, 1978. I have lived here all my life.

I have been working fulltime as a self-representing visual artist for the past 13 years, I have no formal tertiary qualifications and have predominantly taught myself through experimenting. My interests and inspiration comes from alternative youth subcultures, fashion & decorative art.

My Art History - Stages of my work over the last 12 years

1996 - 1998
Paper Collage
I started my art career creating paper collage, cut-out works. My method was drawing the image, painting on the reverse side then cutting out once dry and gluing selected un shaded pieces on to a black piece of paper. I created stylized landscapes, wildlife designs, geometrical abstract and koru designs. I used fluro and vibrant acrylic paint & glue sticks to glue the work together.

1999 - 2000
Canvas Collage
Looking for a change from paper, I moved on to canvas. I started with the same technique then I started layering the canvas and building up more texture. I liked to use gold and other metallic colors in these works. I sometimes added nylon thread and pieces of fabric.

2001 - 2007
Fabric Collage
After working sometimes with fabric on the canvas collages, I started taking a keen interest in fabric. My first fabric collage was inspired by Art Deco, it was silver, black & white diamond checkers. Not to long after creating my first fabric work I took an interest in alternative sub cultures and their fashion styles such as Gothic, Lolita, Punk and the Biker Scene. I decided I would sacrifice my old leather biker jacket to make an abstract collage, it turned out to be the start and inspiration of works to come. I then created a few Gothic styled collages using a layered effect and sometimes painting over top with black acrylic paint. Moving onto Gothic Lolita I added lace and frills. Having explored the Gothic theme I decided to create some Punk Rock Abstract works, these works were great to work on, I added plaid, studs, digital print transfers, safety pins, zips and leather.

Through out my fabric collage years I had been designing alternative digital art on my computer. Skulls have always been a big part of my work from Gothic morbid Skulls to Punk Skulls with Mohawks and then to cartoon & princess Emo Skulls. This move to digital Emo Scene Art inspired me to create some Emo Fabric Collages, I used a mix of prints and fabric with these works, in the end I preferred to create my Emo Scene art on the computer, designing T-Shirt graphics, Art Prints & other fashion accessories through print on demand technology.

Black & White Landscape Photography
My Photography features Trees, Pathways, Empty Park Benches and Riverbank scenes. Working with Black & White lets me focus on composing my shot and featuring light details with shadows and reflections. My work sometimes reflects feelings of solitude, loneliness & despair from the size & magnitude of the large trees that surround us. Signifying we are only small in comparison and it is up to each and every one of us to decide carefully on which path to take in life. My current photographs are taken in Christchurch, New Zealand.
